The Dry Dog (wet) lamenting its fate The Dry Dog (wet) lamenting its fate The Dry Dog (wet) lamenting its fate

Introduction

Part of the Juniper Fanime Project

The Dry Dog is, in its own words, "some sort of a magical familiar type beast thing".
It does not yet have an actual name.

Notably, it is not a dog. Its more of a cat-like thing. However, the only person who it speaks to doesn't seem to understand that.

This beast seems to know about some sort of a prophecy that would spell the end of the world. It seeks to thwart this, so it lends out its powers to a Magical Girl such that she may stop any Calamity or Beasts.

Relationships

The Headmaster

The Dry Dog is the father of The Headmaster of Magical Academy Spells School.

Though, it is kind of a deadbeat.

The Dry Dog came to Magical Academy Spells School not knowing who The Headmaster was, but once it learned, it started being really sneaky.

It lies, turns invisible or ethereal, and causes problems on purpose to not get caught by its daughter. It is rather pathetic.

They do not like eachother.
The Dry Dog doesn't like The Headmaster because it's an asshole.
The Headmaster doesn't like The Dry Dog because it is an asshole, a deadbeat dad, abandoned her, is actively hiding from her, causes problems on purpose, uses invisiblity in the school where it is BANNED, didn't pay child support, is homophobic, and is a misogynist.

Note: The Dry Dog does not think it is homophobic. It does not know what a boy or a girl is. However, it still expresses scorn in an unequal manner, subconsciously.

Juniper

The Dry Dog grants magical powers to Juniper to have her become a Magical Girl.

Juniper is the one who has decided that The Dry Dog is The Dry Dog.
She doesn't seem to know that it isn't a dog, or that being dry is merely what happens when you are not wet.
When it rains, she is very confused as to why The Dry Dog is wet. It is wet because it is raining. And the rain is wet. She may be stupid.

The Dry Dog approached Juniper on her first day of school at Magical Academy Spells School. However, she was not Juniper yet, and so The Dry Dog's pleas for her to fulfil the prophecy and become a Magical Girl to save the world fell upon deaf ears.

Later, she returned, now willing to enact the prophecy, and was turned into a Magical Girl.

This may later prove to have been completely unnecesary. And The Dry Dog may be a bit peeved.
However, it refuses to acknowledge that it misread the situation and instead pushes really hard for Juniper to train and get ready for the prophecy when it is very clearly NOT happening.

Technical Garbage

This is where I start ranting and rambling.

The Dry Dog is both spirit and beast in one. Typically, spirit bindings (rituals to link 2 souls to grant one power) cannot be done between 2 physical forms.
Somehow, The Dry Dog is exempt from this.

This probably means it is really powerful. Frighteningly so. To manifest a phsyical form whilst technically being only a spirit?
Spirit binding is already risky. The bound souls must remain appeased, lest they begin to fight back or wrestle for control.

Do not cross The Dry Dog.
You are only in control because it lets you.

The exact mechanics behind The Dry Dog's existance and powers will never be explained. Nor will it be explained what it is. Just look at it and guess. Yours is as good as mine.

Magic as a whole will get a lot of lore and fleshing out done.
But The Dry Dog is inexplicable.
